June 10, 2011 SeaScape As many of you have discovered, the State of Delaware has recently enacted legislation that sets certain stipulations on how households dispose of their waste; especially yard waste and recycling. This new legislation requires all trash haulers to offer recycling as an option and mandates that they supply your home with a recycling bin for your use. It also sets forth guidelines which ban the disposal of “yard waste” in with your household trash. As such, many trash companies have declined to pick up trash containing yard waste or set large “up-charges” to pick up this debris. Given that this legislation has caused so many issues in communities that we manage, SeaScape began looking for ways to minimize the inconveniences this legislation has had on the residents of our communities. We also were looking to utilize the buying power that communities have when they band together and “shop” for common services. What we have designed is a plan for handling yard waste on a
large scale. Homeowner’s will have the
option of purchasing Yard Waste stickers which can be placed on a bag of yard
waste and set out for collection twice a month.
The sticker is $2 and each bag must have a sticker placed on it in order
to be picked up. The pick
ups will occur twice a month; on the 2nd and 4th
Friday of each month. These pick ups will start in the Glade on Friday, June 24th
. Moor Disposal will be the contractor
hired to handle this program. Another program that you may wish to sign up for is a community trash service offer. Moor Disposal is offering trash service in the Glade for $65 per quarter (including recycling) with no additional fuel surcharge. The service is offered directly through Moor Disposal and just like the Yard Waste program, does not include any “compensation” to a third party; including SeaScape or the POA. This is just our chance to use the buying power of the number of households in the Glade to supply a better price to everyone. In summary, if you wish to utilize the Yard Waste Program stickers, contact the management office or SeaScape and purchase as many stickers as you need. The first pick up is June 24th . If you wish to sign up for the hosehold trash program call Moor Disposal directly at (302) 227-1212. Please refer all questions to the Glade management office at (302) 227-6003. Truly, Chris Nichols |
